The State of Mobile in the Canadian Government

Ok, the title may be a stretch, but I have put together a quick visual presentation of current government mobile apps and websites based on the input I received on my mobile government wiki. Why did I do this? I figured it might help some of you govies strengthen your case for mobile by showing what others have already done. Gatorade Mission Control = True Business Intelligence

I know I sound like a broken record whenever I stress the importance of monitoring social media as a form of business intelligence, so instead I thought I’d share this video with you. Surprisingly I only saw it for the first time at the #social2011 conference in Boston, but it’s been around for a while. Humour me for a second, and let’s imagine government departments here in Canada had rooms like this set up to monitor their programs and initiatives. Waste of time or the obvious future?

Radian6 #Social2011 Debrief

I have a ton of takeaways, however to get them all you may want to take a look at either my tweet stream from last week or search through the entire #social2011 hashtag stream (well over 10,000 tweets went out over the course of 48hrs).

It was great to catch up with some of my colleagues from the private sector world of social media, especially since most of my professional community and clientele belongs to the public sector (or non profit) social media space. I’m always quickly reminded that while the private sector (in many cases) may be a few years ahead, it’s not without it’s own unique challenges.
