Whenever I work with a new client, I always enjoy the “internal document/material review” phase quite a bit as I get to learn a great deal about the organization in a short period of time. Part of the process is of course digging through content on the client’s website. In the case of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), among numerous other things, I managed to find some useful consumer home buying widgets:
- Household Budget Calculator: Compare your income with your current or planned expenses and debt payments and see what you can afford.
- Mortgage Payment Calculator: A tool to find how much and how often your payment will be. Compare options and find one that’s right for you.
- Mortgage Affordability Calculator: Easy to use mortgage tool to help you estimate the maximum mortgage you can afford.
Try ’em out, let me know what you think. Should they be more visible? Allow users to embed the html code perhaps?
Also, few people are aware of the wide variety of things CMHC is responsible for beyond Mortgage Loan Insurance, which is what most people associate it with. Of particular interest to me personally are the areas of Sustainability and Affordable Housing. I’m very much looking forward to examining the opportunities for CMHC moving forward and assisting them in their digital engagement efforts.
